NAI TALIM @ UBHADANDA - - A SEA SCHOOL
A 5-days journey into the world of fishermen communities in coastal area of Konkan. Ubhadanda village is situated in Vengurla Tehsil and located in Sindhudurg district of Maharashtra. It is one of 83 villages in Vengurla Block along with villages like Navabag and Vagheshwar. Walk on tranquil and pristine beaches talk with fishermen. Observe and interact locals busy in their daily routines with livestock, farming and fishing. Listen to the sounds of a village preparing evening meals feels oddly intimate. There’s a thrilling dissonance in hearing the familiar sounds of daily life in a wildly unfamiliar setting. Nai Talim @ Ubhadana is to create and share a culturally based knowledge based hub for worldwide natural learners, and other autonomously learning communities and likeminded people.
During our last Nai Talim we met @ Chaukul village in the Sahyadri (Western) Ghat. Rupees One Lakh twenty five thousand revenue was generated for the Chaukul villagers and Rupees Fifty thousand worth material like Vermicompost bed, Biomass cooker, Solar dehydrator, Solar light, Exclusive books on Ayurveda and Organic farming (valued Rs. 8,000) were provided to Chaukul villagers . Close social bonds were formed within the participants and host families.Visual documentation of the village was done by our few participant friends. Many participants made good relations with the host families. These relationships are paramount to their futures.Something magical happens when you break bread with another. They become human and are appreciated in ways many of us have never experienced. You see the similarities instead of the difference, and tend to work harder on yourself and your relationships to experience harmony within the group
